Level/Field of Study

The Sasol Foundation will be awarding 2 types of bursaries:
1) A bursary for students pursuing an Undergraduate Degree or Diploma in one of the STEM subjects: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
2) A bursary for children of Sasol employees/ Sasol Khanyisa/Inzalo shareholders/ students from a Sasol fenceline community, pursuing STEM or Non-STEM studies.

Host Nationality

Eligible Nationality

Sasol Bursary is only available to South African Students.  International Scholarships are available for International students wishing to study abroad in any country. Scholarship Worth

The bursary will cover these expenses: enrollment fees, tuition fees, exam fees, and accommodation in one room in a university house, meal allowance, book allowance and pocket money.

Sasol Bursary 2019 Eligibility

Applicants should meet the following minimal entrance standards before implementing (please notice that failure to meet each of the prerequisites will probably result in an application not being considered):

STEM Students:

  • South African citizen
  • Currently, in Matric OR have completed Matric
  • Studying or intend on studying full-time towards a STEM qualification (Undergraduate Degree/ Diploma)
  • Have been accepted or provisionally accepted to study at a recognised University/ University of Technology/ TVET College in South Africa
  • Achieved a minimum result of 50% for all subjects
  • Have a total household income of less than R600 000 per annum
  • Preference will be given to students with good academic records and those in financial need

STEM/ Non-STEM Students:

  • South African citizen
  • Currently, in Matric OR have completed Matric
  • Studying or intend on studying full-time towards a STEM or Non-STEM qualification
  • Have been accepted or provisionally accepted to study at a recognised University/ University of Technology/ TVET College in South Africa
  • A child of a Sasol employee/ Sasol Khanyisa/Inzalo shareholders/ from a Sasol fenceline community

2) Verify your account by following the prompts on the activation email

4) Click the Sasol Foundation Bursary application (top left-hand corner)
5) Complete the application form
6) Read and accept the conditions of the disclaimer

Submit clear copies of these supporting documentation in your online application profile (the entry of those documents is mandatory – when some items are lost, your program be dismissed ):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric September results, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy)
  • Tertiary final results, if currently at tertiary level (certified copy)
  • Proof of acceptance/ conditional acceptance at a tertiary institute
  • Proof of registration, if currently studying
  • Proof of household income (parents/ guardians payslips if employed/ letter from Department of Labour if unemployed/ death certificate if deceased
  • Share certificate, if you are/ you are a child of a Sasol Khanyisa/Inzalo Shareholder

Sasol Bursary 2019 in South Africa Application Deadline

13 January 2019.
(Applications submitted following this date won’t be accepted — please apply prior to the final date to make sure your application is considered.)

Shortlisted candidates will be reached between 15 and 28 January 2019, using the last selection to be hauled by 30 January 2019.
